Portugal-based SaiR just released a new electro-funk cut called “Moves,” continuing his summer trend toward creating expressive songs that strut their way into your life so very smoothly.
On “Moves,” SaiR (AKA Ruben Allen) brings out intricate arrangements that slickly maneuver their way around each other as if each part is covered in a suitable sheen of warm butter.
Once “Moves” hits our ears we’re ready to heed all of the song’s suggestions and let our bodies do just what the song’s title says we’re supposed to do. We just have to remember not to spill our martinis on our evening wear.
I think I’ll again use this opportunity to call for a supergroup comprised of SaiR, Liquid Pegasus and Sven Atterton. There has to be a way to bring these like-minded souls together.
Priest’s recent self-titled debut LP has been working its way into everyone’s consciousness through its particularly catchy blend of synth-laden indie-pop. More melodic than Chvrches, darker than DWNTWN, and as inventive as anything Vince Clarke put his hands on in the 1980s, Priest’s songs have been on regular rotation over here at Vehlinggo.
The formula that Florida-based Madeline Priest and David Kazyk employ in their project reminds me a lot of The Colder Sea, a duo out of Germany. Although Sea is more overtly 80s, I wouldn’t be surprised if someday they toured together. They’re spiritually connected, I think.
Futurecop! Burger Shop
Futurecop!, the 80s and 90s-minded British retrosynth pioneers, have taken their respect for all things lovely and fun from those decades and added food and ambiance, resulting in Tomfoolery at 34.
The restaurant is located in Alderley Edge, outside Manchester, in Northern England. So if you’re ever in town to try to find the erstwhile Haçienda/FAC51, drive about 15 miles south and spend some time eating burgers, cake, and other fine things while playing video games from your (or someone else’s) youth. Manzur Iqbal, one-half of Futurecop!, opened the joint just this week.
