PREMIERE: Mega Drive’s Serene ‘In Dreams’

Lakeshore Records is getting more and more into releasing originals — outside of its very successful catalog of soundtracks for the likes of Drive, Stranger Things, Mr. Robot, Halt and Catch Fire, Nerve, and so many non-synth scores. One of these originals is Dallas, Texas-based Mega Drive’s new album, Seas of Infinity.

This is the synthwave producer’s first full release in perhaps three years (and first for Lakeshore).

And today, Vehlinggo premieres the chilled-out, vapory “In Dreams,” my favorite cut from an album that trends toward the darker, more kinetic side of things. The first part of the instrumental number is a full-on melodic and meditative movement, culminating in an interesting surprise for the latter half. Check it out. You just might find your bliss, and then you’ll be challenged to hold onto it.

Pre-order the new album now — you’ll get it on May 18, when it’s released (one song is already available). For more Mega Drive releases, such as Crimewave 2 and VHScheck out the artist’s Bandcamp page.

Listen to another Mega Drive cut on the first of two companion EPs for the forthcoming The Rise of the Synths synthwave documentary. (This is one of those aforementioned Lakeshore originals. EP 2 is coming in mid-June.)
