PREMIERE: ‘Did You Tell Her?’ from Dreddd’s Revamped ‘The Woods’

This week, dark synthwave artist Dreddd will join the ranks of the Drive and Stranger Things soundtracks, along with releases like the Fangoria compilation Hollydoom and The Rise of the Synths. Lakeshore Records will release a revamped version of The Woods, featuring a new track and new cover art, along with a remaster.

Today, get a sneak peak at it via the premiere of “Did You Tell Her?” from The Woods. This cut recalls the engaging colors and atmosphere of the compositions of Johnny Jewel, if they were bathed in a dark pool of beautifully sinister suspense and post-apocalyptic foreboding.

Look for The Woods via Lakeshore on Friday, Jan. 18. Or pre-order it right now.

Dreddd Discusses His Inspiration

Dreddd shared some of the story and his motivation behind “Did You Tell Her?”and The Woods.

“Inspiration at the start was Akira Yamaoka and his work on [Konami’s video game series] Silent Hill, but then quickly moved into ambient, downtempo music; and some really deep tracks came from that,” he tells Vehlinggo.

The Woods to me was the beginning of something new,” he continued. “I knew what I was capable of and wanted to challenge myself to make something deeper with more polish and clean vibes for people to just relax and listen to. I have a really abrasive sound, but I’m a really emotional and deep person and put a lot of value in melody and chill vibes. The Woods is my real self.”
