One-Liners: Satin Jackets via Anoraak, Private Agenda, Galactic Protector, The Warhorse & More

I have some great recommendations for you today. Some of them are a little older, some a few weeks into the world, and some fresh (perhaps even funky fresh).

Satin Jackets – ‘Mirage (Anoraak Remix)’

German producer Satin Jackets has brought in some folks to reinterpret songs from his album Solar Nights. One remixer, the one and only Anoraak, brings on some of the best contemporary disco I’ve heard in years.

Bonus Cut: Check out Anoraak’s killer remix of Pongo’s “Quero Mais.”

Private Agenda – Aura EP

Aura is a beautiful array of inventively esoteric synths, magical guitar flecks, and downtempo rhythms just in time for that lay in the sun. Add to it the restrainedly beautiful and buttery vocals and what we have is pure bliss. (In other news, Private Agenda’s hazily transcendent debut album Île de Rêve releases today. I’ll include an embed from that island of dreams below, too.)

The Warhorse – ‘Bone Apple Tea’

LA-based The Warhorse will never make you feel comfortable, but they will always make you feel invigorated. On the cut “Bone Apple Tea” they also give you pretty melodies.

Synthgirl I-rena – ‘Undinės (The mermaids)’

Lithuanian singer and composer Synthgirl I-rena taps deep into the sea of your soul through surreal and creative means.

Meaningless Data – Meaningless data / 01

The project from Montreal-based Stephane Richard (Saint-Samuel, In a Dramatic Gesture) is a potent blend of beautifully melodic ambient electronics, compelling sound experimentations, field recordings, and interesting tape manipulations. Fans of Dream Ending will dig this.

Galactic Protector – Evening

What if MAINE were inspired by kosmische, prog, and post-rock with his head in the stars? That’s what comes to mind when I listen to Galactic Protector’s new album Evening, out today on Burning Witches Records. (Galactic Protector is a new solo project from The Sword bassist Bryan Richie.)

(Editor’s Note: As established in this post, the One-Liners column is a concise but meaningful way to highlight Vehlinggo-recommended releases. It’s not exactly weekly, but it can be. Check out the most recent one.
