One-Liners: Orion, Nation of Language, Sam Sparro, Baldocaster, OGRE, Final DJs

Today’s One-Liners is filled with gems (well, they always are). Enjoy!

Orion – “I Want You So Bad”

Rhode Island-based Orion, one of the newest acts on Italians Do It Better, has turned out a delectable, retro-tinged Italo cut. Shades of Glass Candy are splashed all over this one, but Orion’s novel creative spark is infused throughout. Produced by Johnny Jewel and available now via the IDIB store and streaming platforms.

Nation Of Language – “Rush & Fever”

My favorite new wave revival act Nation of Language have a new album coming in April. Until then, live inside their latest single.

Sam Sparro – Boombox Eternal

Sparro invokes the spirit of the late 1980s/early 1990s — New Jack Swing, pop and R&B… basically Janet Jackson and all the good stuff. Flyte Tyme and Teddy Riley vibes galore. Plus, there’s some house mixed in there. This is a stunningly otherwordly release. I love it. Out now.

Baldocaster – Mirage

Baldocaster offers a richly layered majesty that keeps synthwave alive. Pre-order right now via Lazerdiscs. Releases Friday.

OGRE – GEIST

British artist OGRE returns with more kosmische bliss. For fans of Klaus Schulze and Manuel Göttsching (and their related acts and extended family). Out now.

Final DJs – Memories of the Future

Uplifting synthwave bliss. Out now via Rosso Corsa.

(Editor’s Note: As established in this post, the One-Liners column is a concise but meaningful way to highlight Vehlinggo-recommended releases. It’s not exactly weekly, but it can be. Entries are almost never one line, but they could be. Check out the post previous to this one.
