Endearments Are The “Real Deal”

I recently stumbled onto this dreamy, Brooklyn-based indie band called Endearments. They’re like a modern revival of ’90s dream-pop with some shades of those glorious moments of the 2010s, at least on the new single “Real Deal,” out now via Trash Casual. (Their debut full-length LP, An Always Open Door, comes out in March.)

This is a gorgeously executed song with a beautiful onslaught of colorful guitars, deeply compelling vocals, and tight, anthemic songwriting strapped to the gills with hooks. In their bio, they mention that they dig the emotional qualities of both ’80s synthpop and ’90s emo — and that they want to invoke the vibe of John Hughes. Pack all of that together with their dream pop stance, and mon dieu do we have music with which I can spend a lot of time. You’ll like it, too. Trust me. Principal songwriter Kevin Marksson and bandmates, guitarist Anjali Nair and drummer Will Haywood Smith are going to be big.

In addition to the single and record having a Bandcamp presence (pre-order is open for the LP), you can find “Real Deal” on all of your favorite streamers.
