PREMIERE: Watch Maethelvin’s VHS-Inspired ‘Planarscape’

Did you know that there’s been an absolute gem from French electronic artist and Valerie Collective member Maethelvin just sitting around waiting for a release? Today, it shall remain hidden no longer. “Planarscape,” a beautiful exercise in smooth, galactic synthesis, premieres today on Vehlinggo.

The VHS-laden, glitchy video, by Hugo Barral of Triangle Video, is for a track that is part of a new EP coming out digitally in December. He made the video in an “old-school” way, which you can definitely feel when experiencing it.

“Planarscape” dates back 2015, when the Paris-based, Nantes native Maethelvin created it for his live show. (He played all the upcoming EP’s tracks live before diving into proper production for the release.) Because of his day job and life events, Maethelvin has had to delay the release of the EP by a few years.

After the EP comes out, Maethelvin says he plans to release some of his more recent creations that are more Italo than his previous work.
