Watch This New Video from College

College has released the music video for “Auto Pilot,” the first single from his odds and sods collection, Old Tapes. The music is as introspective and inspiring as you would expect from the Nantes, France-based producer. The music video, directed by Dan Bell, is mall goodness.

There’s a lot to ponder. I’ll have a substantive review of the full album when it comes out next month. Pre-order the album now, though.

Oh, and here’s Bell’s take on the video, from a release.

“When David [“College” Grellier] approached me for this project, I was thrilled. Listening to ‘Auto Pilot,’ I envisioned a distant world with 1980’s American mall aesthetics. I wanted the video to resemble a fever dream, drifting through empty corridors and spaces that have long lost their luster.

“The dozens of hours of footage I have collected of dead malls in America paired with the track was a perfect, harmonious fit. It was a fantastic collaboration to be a part of. We both knew exactly what we wanted with this project.”

Grellier is no stranger to Vehlinggo’s pages. Most recently, he contributed to this blog’s 7,000-word feature on the fifth anniversary of Drive.
