PREMIERE: ‘Stay’ for the Synthy Cool of Bunny X

Brooklyn Italo Disco revivalists Bunny X have returned with the synthwave-infused “Stay,” which Vehlinggo premieres today.

Bunny X’s Abigail “Abbi” Ferguson and Mary Hanley have crafted a driving, mid-tempo, synth-heavy number with a minimalist, noirish vibe, perfect for those chilly summer nights cruising with the top down on the convertible and someone at your side. It’s a noticeably more synthwave-focused number than their previous Italo fare — more Miami than Milan. Nevertheless, it’s a catchy song, featuring the pair’s gorgeous vocals and poignant lyricism.

To learn more about the duo, check out this interview they did with Vehlinggo last spring. You can also visit their website.

You can catch them live with Heartracer on June 17 at Knitting Factory in Brooklyn.

Lyrics for “Stay”

Don’t take this the wrong way
I’ve known you forever
A lifetime or two…yet still

We need to remember
We can’t forget
We still have to live

So maybe you could stay
We don’t have to figure it out
Figure it out today

Oh maybe you could stay
We don’t have to figure it out
Figure it out today

The night that I met you
No stars were out
It was hard then to even speak to you

Got something to tell you
Need you to listen
Please let me in

So maybe you could stay
We don’t have to figure it out
Figure it out today
Oh maybe you could stay
We don’t have to figure it out
Figure it out today
