PREMIERE: Johan Agebjörn and Mikael Ögren’s ’90s Trance Cut ‘Anamnesis’

The profoundly versatile Johan Agebjörn and Mikael Ögren are releasing a 1990s-retro trance/ambient techno single called “Anamnesis” tomorrow, but Vehlinggo is premiering it today just for you.

Readers will recognize Agebjörn as one-half of famed Swedish Italo Disco outfit Sally Shapiro, which reunited temporarily in January for a collaboration with Ryan Paris for Videoman. However, readers will also recognize Agebjörn and Ögren for their work in a different arena of the ambient electronic/atmospheric realm with the transcendent concept album We Never Came to the White Sea from last year.

This time around, Agebjörn and Ögren have left behind the intimate study of the land of their ancestors for the sense of interconnectedness and raw energy of a European club in the ’90s.

The track was inspired by ’90s ambient techno and trance acts such as Laurent Garnier, LSG, and Paul van Dyk, according to Agebjörn.

The legendary Rob Acid mastered the track. On Sept. 5 it’ll be available on Bandcamp, Spotify, iTunes, etc.
