Time was you’d haunt Johnny Jewel’s SoundCloud page for clandestine releases of new songs from his oeuvre, whether it was Chromatics, Glass Candy, Desire, Mirage, his solo compositions or some other avatar. I certainly spent several years monitoring his account for gems and found many.
Now the place to keep an eye on is YouTube, and in the past week alone Italians Do It Better has released two great songs, one from Glass Candy and the other from Desire.
Glass Candy – “Naked City”
This previously unreleased, ca. 2008 gem has Glass Candy’s trademark minimalist melodicism and disco backbeat, led by the queen Ida No’s otherwordly pipes. Italians uploaded it to the channel earlier this week.
Desire – “Lately (Instrumental)”
This beautiful number popped up today. It’s positively enchanting and I can’t stop listening to it. Apparently, both this and the Glass Candy number were played during a Chanel event, according to Gorilla Vs. Bear.
