ICYMI: Rare Johnny Jewel-produced Track by In Mirrors

You might have heard the vocal version of the Johnny Jewel-produced “Gold” when you saw Vancouver, BC, band In Mirrors open for fellow Italians Do It Better acts Chromatics and Desire last year on their big tour. Nevertheless, it had been unavailable to buy or stream.

That all changed with the release of the Vehlinggo Presents: 5 Years comp last year.

I’m sharing it seven months after the release of the compilation because I wanted to give it another signal boost. It needs more ears! I’m pretty sure I didn’t promote it well enough last November when the comp released.

Here’s what In Mirrors head Jesse Taylor had to say about the track:

“‘Gold’ was first written in 2014 as a demo for a miner from Minot, ND, as a theme for Gold Rush, when he was putting together a new tv series. The song evolved from a dramatic heartbreaking piece into a special groove of love. Presented here in instrumental form, the song will next appear on the In Mirrors full-length LP Permanent on Italians Do It Better. It’s produced by Johnny Jewel and is  the opening track from our recent North American tour. ‘Gold’ represents love and hope and promise and infinity. It’s also quite mysterious and dangerous.”

Here are the in-depth digital liner notes and a chance to purchase the comp via Bandcamp. It’s also available via iTunes, Apple Music, and Spotify (below).
