You know I love Turbo Kid and Montreal-based Le Matos, the duo who did the film’s score (one-half of the group was also the film’s cinematographer). Chances are you love all of that, too, as a Vehlinggo reader. So please join me in losing your mind over this “No Tomorrow” music video/Turbo Kid prequel.
“No Tomorrow,” which features Londoner Pawws (AKA Lucy Taylor) on vox, is the single from last year’s Chronicles of the Wasteland/Turbo Kid Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. I interviewed Jean-Philippe Bernier (the cinematographer/half of Le Matos) last year over Skype. We talked about the film and the music and a whole bunch of other things. I encourage you to read it — but not yet. Watch the video first.
In the video, we are reunited with the hilarious and fearlessly curious Apple (Laurence Leboeuf) in a Fonds Remstar-funded prequel to the Vehlinggo favorite. Her adventure in the “No Tomorrow” video takes place before the delightful encounter of Apple and The Kid in Turbo Kid.
The whole thing takes place amid the utterly catchy and gorgeous synthpop song that Le Matos and Taylor have crafted. It’s a really fun time.
In related news, RKSS, the trio who directed Turbo Kid, are working on a sequel. Anouk Whissell, François Simard, and Yoann-Karl Whissell “are super excited to revisit the crazy universe they created and get back together with their beloved characters,” according to a press release.
Oh, and before I forget, Le Matos are coming to the U.S. in a trio of shows I will miss for various reasons with which I won’t bore you.
Oct. 21 – Brooklyn – Knitting Factory
Oct. 22 – Wichita – Taste and See
Oct. 23 – Austin, Texas – MondoCon Festival (which Vehlinggo will cover in part)
