They’re back! British synthwave pioneers Manzur Iqbal and Peter Carrol (AKA Futurecop!) have returned to explore through synths a true sense of wonder and mysticism in some of their most spiritual work yet.
Vehlinggo is proud to premiere the cinematic “Sarah,” which features singer Hunz returning for another collaboration with the duo. (We last heard Hunz with Futurecop! on “Into Your Heart” on 2014’s Fairy Tales album.)
Take a thousand listens to the dreamy, evocative “Sarah” below. And don’t worry, there’s more like it coming soon. This is just the first single off Futurecop!’s forthcoming album, Return To Alvograth, which is coming soon via NRW Records, NewRetroWave’s label.
Futurecop! are no strangers to Vehlinggo, as longtime readers will know. Iqbal was one of this blog’s first interview subjects (way back when it had a totally different design).
There was also a more recent interview last year, in which we talked about, among other things, how Futurecop! has had success getting their songs placed in Hollywood productions and what that means for the synthwave scene. (Like their fellow pioneers the Valerie and Rosso Corsa collectives, Futurecop! have scored some notable syncs in both television and film.)
Vehlinggo has covered Futurecop! several more times, including when Iqbal opened up a retro-themed burger joint. Good times! I can’t wait for this new album.
