Today, Vehlinggo premieres “Young Love,” a beautiful synth-pop cut from German duo The Colder Sea. You have your choice of the full experience — the official video — and the audio-only stream. It’s a good day.
You’ll be able to buy it digitally and on 7-inch vinyl on Nov. 21 via French label Synth Religion. You can use that link to pre-order it right now, though.
The Colder Sea consists of Daniel and Sarah Egger, who have an interesting story to tell about “Young Love,” a song they finished writing and recording earlier this year. Anyway, I’ll let Daniel tell it:
“As we started working on ‘Young Love,’ it quickly became clear that this would be our most personal track to date.
“I don’t want to go into too much detail, but it’s kind of an anthem for us and everyone else that invested themselves in falling and staying in love with someone. Especially, experiencing it at a young age. It’s irrational, courageous, passionate, wild, boundless, painful, bittersweet, naive, and strong. It’s total conviction and total vulnerability.”
Here’s the song only:
Daniel also discussed the song’s place in their oeuvre.
“For us, Young Love serves as kind of a transition between our first EP, Future Skies, and the tracks that we will hopefully release in 2018. The new material is different in many ways and for some listeners ‘Young Love’ might give some small hints to the musical direction our project will be taking.”
