The podcast has some exponentially creative guests on it today: Deadly Avenger (MONDO/Death Waltz; Lakeshore; Burning Witches) and Mecha Maiko (NRW Records).
Deadly Avenger (AKA Damon Baxter) and I premiere the title cut from his forthcoming Lakeshore Records release, The Girl with the White Orchid, due July 20. Discerning listeners will note this is not the first time I’ve premiered a Deadly Avenger cut on the podcast, but it is the first episode with an interview with Baxter. In the interview, we discuss his musical career, his recent and future work, and what his connection is to Bjork and Massive Attack.

Mecha Maiko (AKA Hayley Stewart) shows up for Found Sounds, which is a segment in which artists share music they dig that’s not their own. Today, she highlights a new song from Bulkhead called “Shake These Chains to Earth Like Dew,” on Aft Pressure via 2MR. She also discusses her upcoming American tour with Dana Jean Phoenix and Betamaxx.

I also play a handful of great songs, including those by the interview guests and from the likes of Nite Jewel, Seahawks, and Samantha Urbani.
You can listen to The Vehlinggo Podcast on the Damn Fine Network via the embed above or via iTunes and Stitcher. Here’s the list of episodes so far this season, since I joined the DFN this spring.
