PREMIERE: Initial Talk and Sasha Brown Go “Skydiving”

Initial Talk is a wizard of taking modern music and just drenching it in glorious 1980s pastiche — just ask Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue, Dua Lipa, and Perfume Genius. His remixes of Lipa’s “New Rules” and “IDGAF” are especially popular. But when he writes for himself, he’s a damn fine artist in his own right. Check out today’s premiere of “Skydiving,” featuring the exquisite vocals of Sasha Brown.

“Skydiving” releases tomorrow via Luca Discs, the label owned by Diamond Field. The pairing of London-based Brown and Initial Talk is a bona fide match made in pop heaven. The cut is a blast of bright colors splashed across some of the catchiest melodies to ever hit synthwave. The song tells the story of a wronged lover who takes the upper hand — all set to an ’80s R&B pop groove. Brown, a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and DJ has been on the rise with her singles “Parallel” and “Fix Of You,” and the just released “How Far Are You Willing To Go?”

The “Skydiving” release is technically a maxi-single and features various versions of the track: an extended mix, a Diamond Field rework, an “’80s party” extended 12″ mix, and an instrumental.

Find it tomorrow on streaming platforms.

(Also, I highly recommend you check out Initial Talk’s remix of Sam Sparro’s “Love Like That.” He takes a Flyte Tyme-sounding number and turns it into an early ’90s R&B song.)
