One-Liners Reviews

One-Liners: Drinker, So Many Men, Futurecop!, Lefti, BurningTapes, Boy Harsher

This iteration of One-Liners is a little bit of disco, a little bit of synth score, a little bit of pop, and a whole hell of a lot of fun.

So Many Men – Voskhod 12″

A new visage of the many-faced Pierre de la Touche (Forgotten Illusions, one-half of The Outrunners and Digital Romance), So Many Men sees the Nantes, France-based musician dive deep into blissful cosmic techno. (Note: There’s no embed yet, but you can sample the tracks via Bordello A Parigi.)

Drinker – “Something I Want”

Drinker build off their exquisite Vehlinggo Presents contribution with a brilliantly executed and evocative cut straight out of Kid A — I love this duo.

Futurecop! – “We Belong (Feat. Parallels)”

I’ve already covered this gorgeous number on the latest podcast episode — featuring the song and an in-depth interview with Holly from Parallels — but you need to just take a grasp of it and keep it with you.

Lefti – “Every Time (Feat. Spencer Ludwig)”

It’s cold in much of the country, but Lefti and Spencer heat it up something fierce with this disco scorcher.

BurningTapes – Black Lake Original Soundtrack

Its beautiful darkness will tear you apart and put you back together again a stronger person. For fans of Jóhann Jóhannsson’s Mandy score.

Boy Harsher – “LA”

What would happen if Ian Curtis never died and Joy Division recorded Technique?

(Editor’s Note: As established in this post, the One-Liners column is a concise but meaningful way to highlight Vehlinggo-recommended releases.)
