Video Premiere: Dylan Mars Performs ‘Mia’ Live on ‘The Special Without Brett Davis’

Dylan Mars Greenberg erupts with creativity across any medium. Her style centers on the challenging and the surreal, using catchy retro-tinged music and eye-catching visuals to elevate the conversation, and sometimes the mood. This is fully on display on the live performance video for the New Wave-inspired “Mia,” performed on The Special Without Brett Davis.

With guitarist Matt Ellin in tow, Mars took the stage on the legendary comedy and music show on the episode that featured the hilarious comic Chris Gethard. The result was something you absolutely can’t miss.

According to Mars: We had about 25 backup dancers — all my lovely friends — arrive on set, which the staff wasn’t expecting. Most bands who perform on that show are more of a standard rock band, whereas I have a very pop sensibility. My creative philosophy is to get scary or surreal or sad concepts, emotions, and ideas out to an audience in an entertaining and engaging way as not to bore them! Since I’m a music video director by trade and had no control over the set itself, the dancers became the art direction. I’m so thankful to everyone who was involved!
