I’ve got a killer premiere for you today: Timecop1983’s new dark, pop-oriented single “My Delorean,” with Texas singer Primo.
Dutch synthwave dreamweaver Timecop1983 and Austin, Texas-based Primo come together to craft an ode to one of the most famous cars in the world. The cut carries a huge impact, driving along like the music to a film’s high-octane denouement — retro-laden but drenched in modern sensibilities, like the Drive soundtrack powering Back to the Future. You’ll be able to buy it (and should buy it) on Timecop1983’s Bandcamp page on Friday. Of course, you won’t need to wait until then to hear it.
Timecop1983 is busy working on a new EP, which he’ll follow with a tour in the US. Learn more about Timecop1983 in both this podcast interview from 2018 and this earlier, in-depth piece from 2015. Catch him at Outland Toronto on July 6 with FM Attack, Parallels, Mecha Maiko, Dana Jean Phoenix, Michael Oakley, and Kalax.
(Here are some photos of Timecop1983 performing with DeLorean owner Colin Bennett (of FM-84) and Tim (from The Midnight), along with The Bad Dreamers, at Rough Trade in Brooklyn last year.)
